Similar to DMPA, it is also an injectable birth control which uses a lower dosage of the synthetic progesterone found in DMPA with an added ingredient of estrogen which is intended to reduce side effects. Cyclo-Provera is administered monthly rather than every 13 weeks like DMPA. Cyclo-Provera is currently off the market.
Norplant:
Norplant is a system of six silicone capsules that are implanted in the inside upper arm of a woman, just above the elbow. Its primary component is an artificial progesterone called levonorgestrel.
