Where Can You Turn?
An unexpected pregnancy is hard to accept. Frustration, anger, embarrassment, and shock may be twisting you into confusion. Maybe you just want to stop everything, and try to make sense of it all.
We won’t solve all your problems, but we can help you focus on good decisions. Take a few minutes to think.
You may be imagining the comments you could hear from family and friends when they find out you are pregnant; You can’t raise a child on your own,” “What about your education,” “How can you afford to have a baby?” “Having a baby is going to ruin your life.”
You might think that having an abortion is a quick fix to your problem. But this isn’t a situation that can be solved with a quick fix. Abortion won’t take away your confusion or anger. In fact, it will probably make things worse. So what do you do?
The first thing is to focus on the specific goal of making the best decisions for you and your baby. You, and maybe others, will always remember that you were pregnant with this child. You want to make decisions that you can live with in the future.
You are a mom with an unborn child. Your decisions affect your health, as well as the health of your baby. So eat healthy foods, exercise properly, avoid drugs and alcohol, and get plenty of rest. An abortion might be suggested as the best option for you. But it carries with it physical and psychological risks for you. And it’s certainly not the best choice for your baby.
If you feel that you cannot be an effective parent at this stage of your life, consider making an adoption arrangement for your child. Many women have education plans, financial concerns, or relationship difficulties that affect their ability to parent a child at this time. Placing your child in an adoptive home will allow you to move forward with your life, and also gives your baby the opportunity to be part of a loving family. This is a decision that both you and your baby can live with.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
